Use Layers and Tracing mode
Control what the plan shows, switch between tracing and illustrated views, and choose an illustration style.

The Layers menu controls what is visible on the canvas and how the plan is illustrated. It is also where you turn Tracing mode on or off.
Use Tracing mode while matching shapes to aerial imagery or a plot plan. Turn it off when you are ready to see the illustrated design clearly and begin arranging plants.
Finish tracing an imported plan
Complete the main outlines
Trace or check the property boundary, house footprint, and major planting beds while the source remains easy to see.
Open Layers
Open Layers from the editor controls. On a desktop it opens as a popover; on a phone it opens as a sheet.
Turn off Tracing mode
Turn off Tracing mode. Shape fills and the selected illustration style become visible again.
Continue designing
Review the bed shapes in the illustrated view, then open the plant library and begin placing plants.
On a phone or tablet, Layers opens as a sheet over the editor. Change the setting, then close the sheet to return to the full canvas.
What Tracing mode changes
Tracing mode makes the source image easier to compare with your drawing:
- The imported image is shown at full opacity.
- Shape fills are hidden so they do not cover source lines.
- Your Klora objects remain in the design and can still be selected or edited.
Turning Tracing mode off does not remove the imported source. It returns the canvas to the illustrated view. Use the background-plan visibility control when you want to hide the source itself.
Show or hide parts of the plan
The visibility controls can show or hide items such as:
- Plant labels
- Grid lines
- Plants and trees
- The background plan
- Sunlight and shadows
- Planting beds
Hiding a layer changes the view, not the design. The underlying objects remain in the plan.
This is useful when one kind of information is covering the part you need to inspect. For example, hide plant labels while arranging a dense bed, hide trees while designing plant placement underneath their canopies, or hide the source image when preparing a clean presentation.
Choose an illustration style
Use the illustration controls in Layers to change how the plan is drawn. The style changes the presentation without changing plant positions, bed shapes, or other design geometry.
Try styles after leaving Tracing mode, when fills and illustrated objects are visible. You can change the style again at any point before exporting.
A practical workflow
For an imported property, Layers usually fits into the process like this:
- Keep Tracing mode on while establishing the property boundary and house.
- Draw the major planting beds against the source.
- Turn Tracing mode off.
- Choose an illustration style.
- Add and arrange plants.
- Hide construction aids or analytical layers before sharing the plan.
My shapes have no fills
Open Layers and turn off Tracing mode. Tracing mode deliberately hides fills while you work over a source image.
I cannot see the imported plan
Open Layers and make sure the background plan is visible. Turning Tracing mode on also reveals the source for tracing.
Plant labels or another layer disappeared
Open Layers and turn that visibility setting back on. Hiding a layer does not delete its objects.
Changing the illustration style seems to do nothing
Turn off Tracing mode and make sure the relevant objects are visible. Illustration changes are easier to see when fills and plants are shown.
