Export your plan
Choose the export area, prepare the visible layers, and download the plan as an image or PDF.
On this page
Klora Plus can export the plan as a transparent PNG, white-background PNG, JPEG, or PDF. Image exports create a clean raster of the plan. PDF exports also include project tables when the design contains plants, beds, materials, and other quantified elements.
Prepare the plan
Before exporting, set the plan to the view you want to share:
- Open Layers and choose which design elements, labels, source imagery, and analysis overlays should be visible.
- Turn off Tracing mode when you want the illustrated fills and plant style.
- Choose the season, growth stage, and illustration style you want shown.
- Check the plan at the intended framing, but do not worry about the current pan or zoom. Export uses the plan content or export frame rather than the current viewport.
Klora clears the live selection before capture so selection handles and plant selection rings do not appear in the file.
Choose the export area
By default, Klora finds the visible plan content and adds padding around it.
Use an export frame when you need a specific crop or aspect ratio:
Choose Export frame
Choose Export frame from the Annotate tools or press X.
Draw the capture area
Drag a rectangle around the part of the plan you want to export.
Check the framing
Use Zoom to fit to view the export frame and confirm that the important content sits inside it.
The export-frame outline is only an editing control. It defines the capture area but does not appear in the exported image or PDF.
Export an image
Open the export dialog
Open the app menu and choose Export image (PNG/JPEG).
Choose a format
Choose one of these options:
- PNG · transparent keeps empty background areas see-through.
- PNG · white flattens the plan onto a white background.
- JPEG · white creates a smaller white-background file without transparency.
Configure the presentation sheet
Leave Include presentation sheet off for a plain plan image, or turn it on to add a drawing frame, north arrow, scale bar, legend, and title block.
Export the file
Review the preview, then choose Export PNG or Export JPEG.
A transparent PNG is useful for placing the plan over another layout. A white PNG or JPEG is usually easier to send, print, or place in software that displays transparency as black.
Export a PDF
Open the app menu and choose Export PDF. The first page contains the plan. Additional pages can include plant lists, material estimates, bed information, water-zone quantities, and other project details when those elements exist in the design.
The PDF settings use the same presentation-sheet controls and preview as image export.
Configure a presentation sheet
Turn on Include presentation sheet to add formal drawing elements to the exported plan:
- Drawing frame
- North arrow
- Scale bar
- Plant legend
- Title block
You can turn the individual elements on or off. Add a project title, client, site address, designer, or custom date when appropriate.
Drag the legend or title block directly in the reduced-resolution preview to reposition it. Those positions and the other sheet settings are stored with the design and remembered the next time you export.
The scale bar depends on the plan’s scale. If you imported a plot plan, calibrate it before exporting.
Export from the project overview
The project overview can also start a PDF export. Klora opens the plan first because the canvas must be rendered before it can create the file, then shows the same export settings dialog.
The export dialog works on phones and tablets, but a larger screen makes it easier to inspect the preview and reposition the legend or title block. The downloaded file uses the same full-resolution export either way.
The export includes too much empty space
Draw an export frame around the area you want. Without one, Klora uses the visible content bounds and adds padding.
Part of the plan is cut off
Redraw or clear the export frame, then export again. Make sure labels and large plant canopies fit inside the frame.
The transparent image looks black
Some viewers show transparent areas as black. Export PNG · white or JPEG · white instead.
A layer is missing from the export
Open Layers and turn it on before exporting. The export reflects the current layer visibility and view settings.
The Export option opens an upgrade screen
Image and PDF export require Klora Plus.
The export fails
Wait for the plan and source imagery to finish rendering, then try again. The plan must be open so Klora can capture the canvas.

Why it works
The design thinking behind this
This guide covers the how. These cover the why — the reasoning that decides what you should be drawing in the first place.
